Here’s the rumor: 3.7″ display, 1GHz processor (which is the minimum required for Windows Phone 7). These are the first details of a possible prototype being developed by HTC to feature Windows Phone 7. Under the screen, 3 touch-sensitive buttons and an 8 megapixel photocamera behind it.

Rumors also speak about some agreements with American carriers, but as most Windows Phone 7 devices currently “rumored”, there’s very little information about more technical specifications. The first rumors also point to the lack of the Sense interface from HTC: Windows Phone 7 doesn’t allow any UI to be applied on top of the default UI. We hope HTC manages to find a way to include it, as the Sense interface is one of the plus sides on HTC phones.

The updates on the Windows Phone 7 come slowly but surely these days. After the confirmation on Hardware partners (LG, Samsung, Dell, Asus and HTC), now Microsoft declares that Bing will be the only default search engine on Windows Phone 7.

According to the guys from Pocket-lint, who appear to have spoken to Greg Sullivan (Senior Product Manager from Microsoft), the search engine will be deeply integrated into the OS. No surprise there, really.

One of the key reasons on this decision seems to be the integration of “Tell me”, that allows users to click a button and give vocal commands to the search within the telephone and on the web.

Here we come again with more news about HTC and the partnership with Microsoft to launch Windows Phone 7 phones by the end of 2010. After the latest rumors, here’s somewhat of a confirmation, coming from spokesperson Eric Lin:

“I know that we’re working with Microsoft. I know that we have access to the OS, to the tools, so I have every reason to believe that we’re going to be there on day one”.

What remains to be seen is the meaning of “Day One”. In any case, we’ll be waiting for more news on the matter.

According to a roadmap from an English carrier, discovered by Omio, an HTC model with Windows Phone 7 will be launched this year, more specifically in November. It’s apparently called HTC Gold.

The specifications aren’t known, and we are labeling it as a rumor, but since Windows Phone 7 requires some minimum specifications, it will most likely have at least 256MB RAM, 8 GB Memory, DirectX 9 compatible CPU and probably a 5 Megapixel photocamera with Flash. The GPS, accelerometer and multi-touch display should also be part of it.

We’ll have to wait for more official information.

It’s not yet clear whether this is an official announcement or not, but Microsoft’s Marketing Vice-President has spoken about an October launch for the Windows Phone 7 during a presentation. No further information, unfortunately.

We aren’t sure whether it’s a full launch with all devices ready, or a “half-launch” where prices and official launch dates will be announced. One detail MobileCruch notices is that October is very far away from the iPhone 4 launch and the update to Android 2.2 for some devices.

It could be a dangerous move for Microsoft.

The Windows Phone 7 devices should start coming after summer in many shapes and forms. One of those currently testing the software is a Samsung prototype based on the Omnia i8910.

According to engadget, the Windows Phone 7 tests are going well and Microsoft’s employees are now starting to use phones featuring the OS. Obviously, the software still has a few bugs, but the fluidity and speed on the system seem more than well.

The hands-on gallery can be seen here. Enjoy!

During the weekend, a new Windows Phone 7 ROM has been revealed by XDA Developers, and together with it, they found interesting information. It seems that the ROM was identified as coming from a device called HTC Mondrian.

The forum members decided to study the ROM in a deeper level and reveal some interesting specifications, among which the image above that could probably be a rendering of the phone. This HTC Mondrian should have a 4.3″ display with the resolution of 480 x 800, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.3 Ghz QSD8650A/B (that supports UMTS and 3G CDMA) and a compass. It’s possible that it won’t feature a physical keyboard.

We’ll wait for more information, as usual.

The guys from Mobility Digest have presented a brief video where we can see the transition effects in the new Windows Phone 7 OS. The video also shows the 3D engine present on the OS, but perhaps the most interesting thing in the video concerns the transitions used on the Associated Press application.

    Enjoy the video!

HTC goes back to the Windows Phone 7 talk and promises everyone a smartphone branded HTC featuring the new Microsoft OS this year. There are no details about the models that will be launched by, according to the specifications, it’ll certainly be a smartphone with a WVGA touchscreen and a 1GHz processor.

The confirmation that HTC started to walk towards the Windows Mobile 7 arrived soon after the announcement from Microsoft, offering aid against the battle HTC is currently undergoing against Apple due to patent issues.

    Coincidence? Maybe not.
