The confusion around the Windows Phone 7 and possible upgrades from previous versions is still there in Microsoft. Last week, Microsoft UK declared that an upgrade could be considered by Microsoft’s hardware partners. But today, Natasha Kwan, General Manager of Microsoft Mobile Communications Business for the Asian market has declared that due to specific requirements for the Windows Phone 7 Series, the current models on the market cannot access the upgrade.

In this declaration, it’s included the HTC HD2, which seems not to have all the minimum requirements. The Windows Mobile 6.5 will be able to receive an update to the Windows Mobile 6.5.3, and after the upgrade, the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 will officially become the Windows Phone Classic.

During the Mobile World Congress 2010, Microsoft presented their new Windows Phone 7 Series, and showed a small demo of the new OS in a device manufactured by Asus. But it wasn’t really specified whether that smartphone will be sold in the future or not.

Would the smartphone currently being “perfectioned” by Asus be the Microsoft phone, something similar to what Nexus One did with Google and HTC? According to Ashok Kumar, the analyst who had the first details about the Google Nexus One, Asus and Microsoft have found some difficulties during the manufacturing of the Microsoft smartphone, but it is a possibility.

The Microsoft-Asus device could be launched in 2011, obviously featuring Windows Phone 7 Series. But before this can happen, if it will happen at all, the Windows Phone 7 Series will be featured in devices manufactured by HTC, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson and Toshiba.

Microsoft has officially announced that they’ll present the Windows Mobile 7 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which will take place from February 15th to 18th. Peter clain has confirmed and made the news official, and he also speaks of a revolutionary OS.

We already know that it’ll have integration with Zune, multi-touch, and according to some rumors, also a system integration with XBox Live, Facebook and Twitter. And now the list of the minimum technical specifications for a smartphone to feature WM7 is bigger: rumors say Wi-Fi and GPS are now added to the list.

At this point, all we can do is wait for the presentation at the MWC, and see if the new Microsoft mobile OS is capable of competing with Android and all others.

Talking about the Windows Mobile 6.5, the upcoming mobile OS from Microsoft, everyone tends to think about the touchscreen version, the honeycomb and the new features that impressed (in a good and bad way). But Microsoft has always launched two versions of their Windows Mobile: a touchscreen one, and a “standard” one, and the same will happen for the version 6.5.

In fact, the guys from PocketNow have released a video that shows the “standard” version of Windows Mobile 9.5 used on a Motorola Q9H, as you can watch below.

    Enjoy!

Many videos about the new Mobile Operational System from Microsoft, the Windows Mobile 6.5 are popping up on the net, and we will bring you another one this time, featuring the latest Windows Mobile 6.5 build on a Touch HD from HTC.

As the video shows, the fluidity is decent and the menus seem to be rather finger-friendly. We’ll have to confirm it after the official launch. For now, enjoy the video!

The good, yet now slightly outdated smartphone from Palm, the Palm Treo 750 was first launched around January 2007, featuring the Windows Mobile 5.2, which later was updated to the 6.0.

Now a video has been published, showing that after two years from the launch, it’s still possible to install the new Windows Mobile 6.5 on the Treo 750, and obtaining decent results as well.

Obviously, it’s a hack and not an official upgrade, so warning for the Treo 750 users: it’s better not to try this at home.

More news about the announced widgets on the next version of Microsoft’s mobile Operational System. Some information about the microapplications, or widgets, and how they’ll be implemented on the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS have been published on the official Windows Mobile Team blog.

It seems that Microsoft will adapt to the existant standard for widgets, made by the W3C group. Since the widgets are actually mini-web pages, they will be able to support not only HTML, CSS, AJAX and Javascript, but also Flash and many ActiveX plugins that could be present on the phone, such as those to use the Media Player.

The widgets will also have their own icon and be inserted into the application menu and have the feel of a standalone application.
