Two big Japanese Mobile companies, Fujitsu and Toshiba, will apparently unite forces to create mobile phones together. According to Nikkei, the negotiations would have already reached their final stage.
If the joint venture will be successful, it will give room to the second biggest mobile manufacturer in Japan, behind Sharp. The reasons for this fusion seems to be economical: the success of “foreign” smartphones in Japan keeps on forcing local companies to come up with new strategies before it’s “too late”.
The union between Fujitsu and Toshiba should reduce costs and close a competitive gap with other companies. It seems also that a possible plan to expand to other countries isn’t discarded either.

UnwiredView has published a very good video-preview of the Toshiba TG01, the new smartphone with the “famous” 1GHz processor, admired for its performance but criticized for the consequences of such performances on the battery duration.
For now, the T01 uses Windows Mobile 6.1, but it should be equipped with the 6.5 version by the time of its launch.
As we wait for the official launch, we leave you to the video-preview. Enjoy!

After the first images about the new Toshiba TG01, a new video has been released that shows a little bit of the new smartphone’s interface in action.
It’s clear that the fluidity isn’t a problem on this model, and the home screen seems to bring all the important information and all the icons that are needed… but the color choices are debatable and do not give a very “business” feel to it. At least that’s our opinion. Feel free to express yours after watching the video.
Enjoy!

The Mobile World Congress will also be the sage where Toshiba, the well-known computer manufacturer, will show their new entries also on the touch screen cellphone market. Their main entry is called TG01 and it seems almost an iPhone copy when it comes to its aesthetical design.
“”We’ve taken all the technology from our TVs and put that into the screen”, the UK and Ireland Country Manager for Toshiba has declared, referring to the large 4,1″ display and the 480×640 pixel resolution.
Amongst the many features, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor with 1GHz, browser with flash plug-in support, HSDPA and GPS connections, acceleormeter and an expandable memory through microSD cards. All we can hope is that the batter duration is good enough to handle all that.
But we’ll see it for ourselves in a few weeks.
