People have been expecting Sony Ericsson to launch something similar to a PSP Phone for a while, but the rumors were always brought down, much to some fans’ disappointment. But today, another rumor comes to the list of rumors seen in the past, and it seems that it’s Sony to take the initiative this time.

Indeed, the creators of the PlayStation seem to be bothered with Apple’s hegemony in the portable devices sector and would be developing a smartphone that would be connected to an Online Service (Sony Online Service, which should be similar to the iTunes), where users could download songs and PlayStation games.

Despite the Sony brand, the device will be built by Sony Ericsson, even though the OS is still unknown. Sony also seems to be planning to make a tablet that would be a “netbook, an e-reader and a PlayStation portable” all in one, in order to compete with Apple’s iPad and other devices.

Do you all remember the Sony Ericsson Kurara U5? Well, forget that name, as from now on, it’s called Sony Ericsson Vivaz. It was officially announced by Sony yesterday, and the Vivaz doesn’t look any different from what had been seen when it was called Kurara U5.

THe smartphone has Symbian as its OS, a WVGA touchscreen display, HSDPA module, Wi-Fi, GPS and 3.5mm jack, common features on the high-level smartphones. But the Vivaz has also a 8.1 Megapixel photocamera with autofocus and LED flash, capable of recording HD videos in the 720p format.

The Vivaz will be available in four colors: Cosmic Black, Silver Moon, Venus Ruby and Galaxy Blue. After the post, some pictures and a product tour video. Enjoy!

It seems that Sony Ericsson is really willing to give people something to talk about, especially since the company hasn’t been in their best of moments lately. First the Kanna, then now other leaked images show the Robyn, a miniature version of the Android X10 smartphone.

The device takes most of the features on the X10, except for the smaller size, and it should have a few different colors. The few specifications known speak about a 5 megapixel photocamera with autofocus, touchscreen, USB connector, HSPA and WLAN.

We’ll have to wait for the Mobile World Congress to know more.

Christmas is now over, and the first mobile expos are about to start. Hence, the rumors and images of possible new devices are probably going to start from now on, and today we point out one of them. An anonymous source has apparently published the first image of what would be a new device in the works by Sony Ericsson, called Kanna. If the specifications are indeed true, this should be an interesting device. Aesthetically, the Kanna looks like the Kurara, but features a QWERTY keyboard.

It should also feature a 3.2″ display with 360 x 640 pixels resolution, Wi-Fi, microUSB port, 3.5mm audio jack, 8.1 megapixel photocamera with autofocus, and the Symbian S60 5th edition, all put together with a rather fast processor and capable of playing 720p videos. We’ll have to probably wait for the Mobile World Congress in order to know more.

After launching the Elm model, Sony Ericsson presents another GreenHeart model. The device is called Hazel, and it has a legerly curvy design and a slide mechanism; it was built taking into consideration the recent ecosystem-friendly rules for the company, with recycled materials, small package and low-energy battery chargers.

There’s not much else known about the technical specifications, however. The display is a 2.6″ with the resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, and the availability has been set for the second trimester of next year for a yet unknown price.

Sony Ericsson has officially confirmed that the Xperia X1 device won’t have an OS upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5. The immediate reaction from customers didn’t take long to arrive: why not upgrade the OS on a device that is still well used and with a rather modern hardware?

The Xperia X1 has never really reached the expectations, but an update would at least make it a little better. Many users are still hoping on a possible change of mind.

While the Sony Ericsson X10 presentation is on the spotlight now, rumors about another Sony Ericsson device, featuring the Symbian S60 OS keep on coming. The device won’t be launched until 2010 and it should have a slightly curvy design, as the images above can show.

The rumors say that these pictures could possibly be from the Sony Ericsson Kurara (temporary name, it seems) and that the device will be part of the Entertainment Unlimited family. The phone should have a 3.5″ AMOLED display and a 8.1 megapixel photocamera. We’ll have to wait and see if the rumors are confirmed true.
