Samsung has released a video to explain the difference between the AMOLED and Super AMOLED displays, and also how they obtained the desired results.
Basically, during the manufacturing stages, with the Super AMOLED display, less materials are needed. Which translates into better brightness and a thinner display, which helps in creating slim phones. The Super AMOLED displays will also be available to other manufacturers to build their own smartphones.

On Feb 14, a new mobile from Samsung is born. See it first in Barcelona. The announcement doesn’t refer to Bada, but everyone seems sure that Bada will be the main feature. We’ll have to wait and see.

Hoping it’ll approach our markets as well, we’ll list the main features. It has a 3.7″ AMOLED display with WVGA resolution, a 800Mhz processor, Wi-Fi and GPS. Also featured are the 3.5mm jack, 5 megapixel photocamera capable of recording 720p HD Ready videos and with DivX Support. There’s a small market that usually isn’t seen in the mobile phone world: those of the cheaper models. One of the manufacturers that keeps on developing new models for that market range is Samsung, and they bring forward their new Stunt R100.
It’s a cellphone with a candybar device, a 1.7″ display with the resolution of 128 x 160 pixels, with a very simple graphic interface and no photocamera. The price has not been revealed yet, but due to the phone’s very basic specifications, it should be quite cheap.
