Microsoft has officially launched their Kin series, called the “social phones”. The Kin 1 is the first on the series that the company wants to launch on the market.
Previously denominated as Turtle, the Kin is a square phone with a slide QWERTY keyboard, small enough to be held on the palm of one hand. The Kin 1 is proposed as a multimedia player with “something else”, internet connection and access to social networks. Technically speaking, the specifications aren’t bad, but they’re not extraordinary either: display with the resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, 5 megapixel photocamera with flash, 4Gb memory, non expandable. There’s no mention of a GPS, strangely enough.
It seems to be a phone designed for a younger public and not the advanced users. We’ll post some pictures by the end of this post, and the first video about the Kin 1.
