The new BlackBerry OS 6 was shown in images and some videos, but now RIM has released a new list of compatible devices. The list of compatible BlackBerries has only two new entries: the 9300 Kepler, that will be launched after the OS 6, and the BlackBerry 8980 “Atlas”. Here are the newly-revealed features:
* Graphical context menu in tables list and tabs
* Long context menu scrapped
* Unified search framework included in 3rd party app data
* Multiple contact lists
* Message list enhancements (displaying pushed 3rd party app data)
* Wi-Fi LBS support
* Reverse geocoding (geo to zip)
* Travel time service within Canada and USA
* Trackpad support for swipe gestures
* 1D/2D barcode scanning
* Auto-focus enhancements (Camera lens and Auto-Focus are now separate)The multiple contact lists seem to be thought out for those that like separating work data from personal data. The new features seem to be really interesting, so we’ll have to wait for confirmation.

The guys from TechnoBuffalo have made a hands-on video that shows a bit of the prototype for the BlackBerry Curve 9300. This model, branded T-Mobile UK, seems to work well, with OS 5, at least in this video.
Compared to the predecessor, the BlackBerry 8500, the keyboard seems enhanced and the most noticeable differences seem in the design.
Enjoy the video!

It’s not yet clear whether this is an official announcement or not, but Microsoft’s Marketing Vice-President has spoken about an October launch for the Windows Phone 7 during a presentation. No further information, unfortunately.
We aren’t sure whether it’s a full launch with all devices ready, or a “half-launch” where prices and official launch dates will be announced. One detail MobileCruch notices is that October is very far away from the iPhone 4 launch and the update to Android 2.2 for some devices.
It could be a dangerous move for Microsoft.

We’ve heard about the Gravity and Gravity T, but it’s the first time we hear about the Samsung
(yes, that’s the name:
). We wonder how people will actually get to pronounce the name of that model, but we digress.The three models were launched today with T-Mobile. They’re full QWERTY devices, made for the social networking and text messages, hence perhaps for a younger customer. Also the colorful design and the friendly user interface hints to that.

The Windows Phone 7 devices should start coming after summer in many shapes and forms. One of those currently testing the software is a Samsung prototype based on the Omnia i8910.
According to engadget, the Windows Phone 7 tests are going well and Microsoft’s employees are now starting to use phones featuring the OS. Obviously, the software still has a few bugs, but the fluidity and speed on the system seem more than well.
The hands-on gallery can be seen here. Enjoy!

All big names. Super AMOLED, AMOLED, LCD. But what’s the true diference between them? The guys from Techblog have made a comparative video with the Samsung Galaxy S (4″, 480 x 800 pixels and Super AMOLED), the HTC Desire (3.7″, 480 x 800 pixels, AMOLED) and the Sony Ericsson XPeria X10 (4″, 480 x 854 pixels, TFT LCD). The video shows the different displays even under sunlight, and it’s a good demonstration of what makes those displays different from one another.
Enjoy!

According to the Rimarkable website, RIM should launch six new BlackBerries by the end of the year. Starting with the BlackBerry 9800 Slider, probably the next BlackBerry after the Storm 2 and scheduled to launch in August, according to the image that you can see above (provided it’s not a fake, of course).
Second in line would be the BlackBerry Curve 9300, the first smartphone from the Curve series to use a 3G module. The third of the six that have been seen before is the BlackBerry 9670 Clamshell. Still unknown the last three: BlackBerry Bold “Altas”, BlackBerry Bold 9900 “Onyx Delta” and BlackBerry Curve “Dakota”.
The first should be a cheaper Bold model, the 9900 should be an evolution from the Bold series, adding the touchscreen to the QWERTY keyboard and with the OS 6.0, 5 Megapixel photocamera and 512MB RAM. Finishing the list is the Curve “Dakota”, that should confirm the touchscreen on a 4G Curve.
We’ll wait for more information from RIM on the matter.

After seeing it in pictures and hearing rumors, the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 comes back in a hands-on video, that allows us to check the user interface and a few features.
It’s not a very long hands-on, but as a first impression, it works. Enjoy the video!

Announced around a month ago, the Samsung Champ C3300 is ready to come to Europe, for less than €150 in average. It’s already launched in Germany for the price of €129, and it’s possible that it’ll be even lower in the rest of the continent.
The Champ is a very small phone, weighing only 80g, with a 2.4″ QVGA display, TouchWiz Lite interface, 3.5mm jack, BlueTooth, USB 2.0, 1.3 Megapixel photocamera and microSD support up to 8GB. The phone is sold with stereo headphones and a little pen.

Another smartphone to be launched in the market, this time it’s the Pantech Ease, featuring a physical QWERTY keyboard. The device features a 3.2″ display and a 2 megapixel photocamera.
The connectivity is HSPA and also featured are the multimedia player and bluetooth. It seems to be quite a simple smartphone, and it’ll be sold from June 20th in the USA, with AT&T at first.
