AT&T, Wind and other companies to create a rival to App Store
AT&T, Orange, Telefonica, China Mobile, Deutsche Telecom, Telecom Italia, Sprint, Vodafone, Wind and a dozen more international mobile phone carriers have announced the Wholesale Application Community, that has the goal of creating an alternative to the close market from Apple when it comes to applications.
As for the hardware, LG, Samsung and Sony Ericsson have joined the group of carriers to develop an Open source system to develop and distribute applications. What’s currently lacking in quality, as the development is still on its early stages, it can be compensated with the numbers: the alliance should cover around three billion clients all over the world.
