Despite all the modern technology, there’s still a piece of the market that isn’t interested in touchscreen, web browsing, GPS, WiFi and all the newest innovations. There are some people that simply buy a cellphone for its original reason: make calls and send messages. And that’s the market range that LG wants to reach with their new GB109.
It’s a candybar with a 1.5″ display that views 65.000 colors. It has no photocamera, but it does feature FM radeio and a battery that guarantees 6 hours in conversation and 440 hours in standby. The device is going to be launch only at East Europe for now, for the price of around €100.

After the many new touchscreen devices, Samsung decided to launch an entry-level cellphone: the C3212 DuoS. The cellphone is a candybar without most of the high-technology devices usually found on cellphones nowadays, even the photocamera isn’t present.
At the moment, there aren’t many details on its technical specifications, but it’s likely that it won’t really feature the 3G networks. But one detail that is known is that the phone will support two sim cards at the same time. The cellphone will be launched in Russia at first, for the price of $196.

What kinds of cellphones we will have in the future? Nokia has showed a bit of their own ideas with the Nokia Morph concept and also LG has gone that way with a contest called “Design The Future”, and the winner was the HiFi concept, a very flexible cellphone that can become a headphone. Once folded back into a cellphone, it’s a candybar with two OLED touchscreen displays.
Of course, it’s still unknown how long it will take till we see this in the market, but it’s interesting to see new ideas like these popping up already.
