The HTC Hero should be the third smartphone from HTC featuring Android, and we have talked about it a few posts ago. But now it seems, according to the Amazon pre-order, that the device should be launched soon. The famous website has it listed for pre-order at the price of £429, and with a date fixed to July 15th.
The price seems a little high, doesn’t it? But we’ll have to wait and see.

Through a dedicated event, HTC has officially launched the successor of the G1. The HTC Hero has the Android 1.5 OS, and it seems good enough to rival the main smartphones with Android on the market. It features a rather original design, wit a 3.2″ touchscreen display with the resolution of 320×480 pixels. The photocamera has the resolution of 5 Megapixels with autofocus, but it lacks flash.
The connectivity is done through the HSDPA protocol, but it also has Wi-Fi connection. The internal memory is expandable through microSDHC cards, and GPS, accelerometer and 3.5mm for headphones are also present. It will be sold in the UK from next month on, with Orange.

The smartphone market is rising quickly, and that was easy to see with the first market data first released around May. HTC, that back in May was fourth in the list, has announced a sales preview of 20% more than last year.
It was Peter Chou, HTC’s CEO to announce the fact during one of the typical conferences with stock owners. Last year, HTC sold 12 million devices worldwide, and by the end of the year, the Taiwanese company expects to sell 14 million. The reasons for those statistics could be based around Android’s success, installed on the HTC Dream and HTC magic.

Each person has their own passion, and many love travelling and learn more about the countries and places they visit. For those, National Geographic has presented the National Geographic Duet Travel Phone, a device born from the collaboration with the Cellular Abroad carrier, which works with SIM cards aimed for international calls.
The cellphone isn’t exactly the top of technology. Being a device aimed for travellers, it has less of the modern technology in order to enhance the battery duration. It’s strong point is, however, the international calls: the calls cost around 15 to 50 cents per minute to 185 countries, and free entrance calls. The device will be sold for $199.
